REMEMBER THE IOWA TRANSPORTATION MUSEUM FOR CHRISTMAS By Gerry Schnepf, President

Even though Santa travels on his magical sleigh by the―speed of light‖ – he may not have time to stop at the Iowa Transportation Museum (ITM). You can help Santa in his travels. The ITM is run with donated funds and donated time. The Board of Directors spends hundreds of hours, thousands of mile and considerable expenses to see that the museum
project continues to move ahead. In addition, each Director is financially donating to the project. We thank each and every one of them for the good work, dedication and direction they provide to this project.

Please take a moment to consider a Christmas Gift for the Iowa Transportation Museum. It can be as little as $100 (Founding Friend) or as large as you can afford to help the project. Gifts to the Iowa Transportation Museum are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by the law.

The Board of ITM has established a policy that on every gift over $1,000 that 10% will be placed in an endowment. We have an endowment fund established and managed by the Poweshiek Community Foundation. If you would like to consider a direct gift for the ITM Endowment Fund please make a note on your check in the comments section ITM Endowment Fund.

Enjoy the gift of giving and remember the Iowa Transportation Museum at Christmas.

2009 ANNUAL MEETING

On October 20, 2009 the ITM held its Annual Meeting in
Grinnell, Iowa at the Grinnell College “Old Glove Factory”
office complex. Board President Gerry Schnepf provided an
update on the financing and the status of the Phase One Construction plans. In an effort to obtain a loan to launch the
project a guaranteed rural development loan through the
USDA is being pursued. Chuck Brooke, Executive Director
of the ITM gave an update on the status of approvals being
obtained through the Iowa DOT for the use of federal and
state grants. An election of officers was held for 2010 with
Gerry Schnepf, Ian MacGillivray, Bill Pritchard and Richard
Bice being elected respectively as President, Vice President,
Secretary and Treasurer. Following lunch Ken Bucklin, a
member of the ITM Advisory Committee gave a program on
“Memories of Building I-80 Across Iowa”.

FUND RAISING AUCTION

The Grinnell Golf and Country Club hosted a live auction November 14, 2009 to raise funds for the ITM. Over forty people were present to bid on items ranging from Iowa Speedway tickets to art objects donated by local artists. Sponsors of the event were Iowa Telecom and Lincoln Savings
Bank. Thanks to efforts of the local ITM fund raising committee and enthusiast bidders over $3,100 was raised. This was the third fund raising event coordinated
in 2009 by the local committee.

USDA APPLICATION

On November 19, 2009, Mike Larson, Vice President of Grinnell State Bank, and Chuck Brooke, ITM Executive Director, met with Randall Campbell, Area Director of the USDA, to file a completed application for a USDA Guarantee Rural Development Loan. An earlier meeting had been held between Gerry Schnepf, Board President, David Jones, President of Grinnell State Bank, Chuck Brooke and Randall
Campbell to discuss the possibility of submitting an application. After review of the application is completed the USDA is expected to notify the ITM within 30 days of their decision.

A Gift to ITM TODAY helps open the door to the past and into the future!
